In short, rivets are fastening tools used to join two or more materials. Since the parts to be joined do not need to have teeth, even very small parts can be easily joined by means of rivets. The most important feature of the rivet is that it does not have to reach the back of the part to be joined. The joining process can take place even if the rivet does not reach the back. For this reason, the rivet is also called "blind rivet".
Rivet Types
There are many different types of rivets according to the area of use. These are extremely diverse.
1. Standard Pop Rivet
The most common type of rivet, the standard pop rivet, is mostly made of aluminum. Used especially in metallic products, the standard pop rivet can be used to join almost anything.
2. Wide Head Pop Rivet
The wide-head pop rivet, which is also an aluminum-based material like the standard pop rivet, is characterized by its larger size, as the name suggests. The most important feature of the wide head pop rivet is that it makes it easier to join materials such as plastic. In this respect, it significantly prevents the material from getting rid of the rivet.
3. Countersunk Pop Rivet
The countersunk pop rivet with aluminum body and steel housing is distinguished by the countersunk shape of the body part. This ensures that the riveted area has a flat surface without protrusions.
4. Pop Rivet with Closed Back
The use of the pop rivet with a closed back is different. The aim of this type is to minimize the flow of liquid and gas after the riveting process.
5. Spider Rivet
The spider rivet has an important feature compared to other rivets. This is that it is plus-shaped thanks to its special nail. In this way, the material to be riveted, especially if it has a fragile structure such as plastic, is made more durable. It also prevents the plastic from getting rid of the rivet.
6. Wide Head Spider Rivet
The wide-head spider rivet is especially recommended for brittle and unstable materials such as plastics. A wide-head spider rivet has a plus shape, just like a normal spider rivet. The wide head makes it more durable. Depending on the sensitivity of the material, normal spider rivets or wide head spider rivets can be preferred.
7. Stainless Steel Rivet
As the name suggests, the prominent feature of this type is that it has a stainless structure. If no rust is desired after the riveting process, stainless steel rivets should be used.
8. Wide Head Multigrip Rivet
The wide-head multigrip rivet, similar to the standard pop rivet, differs from the standard pop rivet as it is produced with a more durable material. Thanks to its large diameter body, it allows materials to be held more firmly.
9. Nut Rivet
Nut rivets are used for thin materials. Since the bolt thread cannot even be opened in thin materials, nut rivets will be used at this point. For this reason, after using the nut rivet in the first place, the desired material can be mounted with the help of bolts.
